Application Process
1. Admission to the Redcliffe Robins (for children aged three to five)
Parents are asked to visit the school and register their child as soon as they are interested in securing a place and there is a £50 registration fee. The child’s name will then be placed on the Registration List. Places will be offered, in registration order, one year before entry to the Robins. Registration does not guarantee that a place will be available at the appropriate entry time. Parents may tour the school most Tuesdays and Thursdays during term time and appointments should be made with the school office. Once a place has been offered in the Robins class it is secured by a £1,000 deposit, which is reimbursed and is deductible from the final term’s fees should the pupil not progress into the Kingfishers class.
Children who are three years old are eligible for a morning place in the Nursery. The morning session runs from 8.30am - 12.15pm Mondays to Fridays. The main point of entry is September although, children may be accepted in January and April, if there are places available. Priority is given to those children who have siblings already attending Redcliffe School and then admission is by date of registration. There is some provision for children who are three and a half to stay for a full day.
Children who are turning three during their first term in the Nursery are eligible for an afternoon place, which runs from 1.30 - 3.25pm, Mondays to Thursdays. Children must have their third birthday during their first term in the Robins. Children generally remain in the afternoon class for one academic year and then progress to the morning class the following year.

2. Admissions to kingfishers (transition for children aged four to five)
Children entering Kingfishers must be four by 1st September of the year of entry. Parents may register their child for Kingfishers at anytime and there is a registration fee of £50. Admission to Kingfishers is by informal assessment.
Children already attending the Robins must also register for the Kingfishers class and there is a charge of £50. These children are assessed prior to children on the registration list. Assessments take place after the autumn half term holiday in the academic year before entry into Kingfishers. The assessments are carried out by the Head of the Lower School during normal Robins’ lesson times. The skills looked for include social interaction, fine and gross motor skills and a readiness to learn. Parents are informed of the outcome of the assessment shortly after half term. Places are then secured by the signing of the Acceptance Form. No further deposit (after £1000 for a Robins place) is required to secure a place in Kingfishers.
Registered children who do not attend the Robins will be assessed after the Autumn half term holiday. Assessments then will continue until all places in Kingfishers have been accepted. Most of these assessments will take place by February half term in the academic year prior to entry.
Siblings who do not attend the Robins are assessed first, followed by children from the registration list in order of date of registration. The assessment process will take place as for the children already in the Robins class. Children will be invited to Redcliffe to join the Robins afternoon class and will be assessed in small groups of four to five. There will be further opportunity for parents to discuss any questions they may have with a member of the Senior Management Team during the assessment time.
The outcome of the assessments will be communicated to parents at the end of the week. Places offered may then be secured by a deposit of £1,500. This deposit will be deducted from the last term’s fees.
The autumn term’s fees are due on the 1st July prior to entry into the Kingfisher class in September. All further fees will be due on the first day of term.
All deposits, at any point of entry, are non-refundable should the child be withdrawn before entry to the school.

3. Admission in other forms
Should an occasional place become available in a year other than Kingfishers, the parents at the top of the waiting list are offered this place following assessment. There is a simple assessment at this stage and the child is invited to spend a morning /afternoon/day in school to join the class and work alongside her classmates. Staff will make observations and may offer suggestions to the parents should the child need to do some catching up at home before joining us.If it is felt appropriate a place will be offered. Acceptance of this place will be as described above.
