The rain couldn’t dampen Coleridge’s spirits as they explored the London Zoo on Thursday. The children participated in two educational sessions: Bones and Movement and Rainforest Explorer.
In the Bones and Movement session the children used real bones, x-rays and Cabbage the rat to investigate the various ways animals move, and how their muscles and skeletons help them to do this. After lunch the children had the chance to explore the Zoo, with Sofian and Grace in charge of directions.
After visiting many wonderful and interesting animals, Coleridge headed to their Rainforest Explorer session. This workshop gave the children the chance to explore the zoo’s rainforest biome, look for animals and take the temperature and humidity readings. They even had the opportunity to touch Charlie the hissing cockroach. It was such a fun day and now the children are very excited to learn all about Rainforests in their Humanities lessons this term.
