Parliament Meeting

On Wednesday morning we were delighted to welcome Georgina and Yasmin as representatives of this year’s elected charity: Shooting Star Chase. We heard and saw examples of some of the excellent work and facilities that this charity oversees at its two hospices for children and young adults, one at Hampton and the other near Guildford. Below is a brief introduction from Georgina:

Shooting Star Chase is delighted that Redcliffe School have chosen to support us this year. We support over 700 life-limited babies, children and young people throughout Surrey and West London every year, in our two hospices and with our hospice-at-home team. Providing these services costs £10 million every year and, with less than 10% of this being received as government funding, we rely on our generous supporters, such as Redcliffe School. For more information about Shooting Star Chase, please visit our website (www.shootingstarchase.org.uk). Thank you for your support!

I am sure all our pupils will be delighted to start our fund-raising drive with a ‘Fantasy Charity day’ on Wednesday 21 November. All children were able to suggest themes for the day and our School Parliament prefects Sofia and Lucilla were masterminds to settle on ‘fantasy’ as it caters for most costume choices! (With warm outer layers and sensible shoes as well!) Please may pupils bring in a generous donation (suggested £5 minimum) in way of support for this deserving charity.

In addition – should adults be doing any online shopping, they might like to consider nominating Shooting Star Chase as their ‘good cause’ under the ‘Easy fundraising’ scheme. For details, please refer to: https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk
