Remembrance Day Assembly

Dear God,

Thank you that our school community could come together to celebrate Remembrance Day.

Thank you for all the men and women who fought and died so that we may live as we do today.

Thank you for the freedoms, privileges and rights that we enjoy because of their sacrifice.

Please help us to make the most of the freedoms and opportunities that we have, so that their sacrifice is not in vain.

Lord, please bless those people who have been hurt during conflict: whether their wounds are physical, mental or emotional – please ease their pain and help them to adjust to their new way of life.

Please bless the families that are left behind while their loved-ones go off to war; please give them strength, hope and peace.

Please help all people show love and respect to each another – and may there be peace on Earth.

Thank you.

Amen.

Poppy Display
Each of these poppies represents a person who fought and lost their life in the Great War, 1914-18.
The names of these soldiers have been taken from the plaque in our Church; they were from the, ‘Congregation and War Roll of St Luke’s, South Kensington’

Wordsworth’s Original Song that they performed at our Remembrance Day Assembly

We’ll remember them, as the days go by, up-on the fields of poppies

We’ll remember those, who fought for us, as we walk in fields of peace.

So she took her child, to the countryside, up-on the fields of poppies.

As the bombs rained down, on London town, among the fields of war.

Let’s remember them, as the days go by, up-on the fields of poppies

Let’s remember those, who fought for us, as we walk in fields of peace.
